Attention truckers! I wanted to share a recent experience while delivering equipment to Black River Outdoor in Poplar Bluff, MO. Unfortunately, my trailer floor ended up getting heavily scraped due to metal crates being just chain pulled out without being lifted during the process. They didn’t have the receiving dock available, which is fine, but there are multiple ways to handle the unload rather than just scraping along the wooden floor.
They claimed they had specifically requested a trailer with a metal floor, but this was only mentioned after they were asked to sign off on the damage. This is being checked with the load broker, but initial review shows there was no such request.
In the end, Travis, the person overseeing the situation, pointed fingers at the crate manufacturer and three of his workers who were inside the trailer moving the crates. However, since he didn’t witness the process himself, he maintains that they aren’t responsible for the damage.
It makes perfect sense that we, truckers, deliver not only your goods, but also foot the bill for damages that you (or your employees) cause by negligence or incompetence.
